Cultures of Growth: FGLI Friendly Neighborhood Book Club

This month, we’ll be launching a new series in our Professional Development offerings: The FGLI Friendly Neighborhood Book Club!

We’ll offer regular opportunities to come together to discuss—in a no-pressure environment—books and articles relevant to our field. We will have the chance to discuss not only the theoretical framework of these pieces, but practical applications into our programming, policy, management, and advising work.

We will kick off this series with a chapter from Mary Murphy’s new book, Cultures of Growth: How the New Science of Mindset Can Transform Individuals, Teams, and Organizations. For those of you who were able to join us for the annual conference in Princeton last November, you will remember Dr. Murphy’s excellent keynote examining mindset as a cultural, rather than individual, factor. Murphy argues that instituting a growth mindset culture into the messaging, policies, and practices of our organizations can help foster inclusion and excellence.
